As everyone has said.... go for Asics if you can afford it.

Their shoes are the most expensive of all the brands.... but
their running shoes are among the best.

Try going to Queensway or Peninsular Plaza.

Heck, if you really want, visit the Running Lab at either Funan
or Velocity.... they can do a professional analysis of your feet
and recommend a good pair of shoes for you.

running marathon and look for shoe? I figure you have not been
running much.

There are specialist shoe shop in Penisula and Funan and Marina,
but i find Novena is a better option.

try out the shoes shop in Novena Square, most of the shoes
shop representative there are equip with answer to your shoe
query.

Do remember to tell the sale person you are doing 42km, as most
probably you will be recommend to get 1 or 1/2 size bigger.

Bring along a old pair of sneakers along to the shoe shop. Be
prepare to do some running on the treadmill while trying out the
shoe...so get the proper attire and no heavy food before going up
to Novena.

The most popular around is Asics, New Balance and Nike for
long distance running.

I assume you are not doing off trail/cold weather(snow)
marathon...which require shoe of different type.

Price wise in Singapore is pretty standard...as for discount,
you might be getting from 20-50% off the retail depend on what
brand and which shops and lobang you can find.

i would (still) say queensway, but it may help if you call-up
the asics disti itself and talk to their technical specialist.
sometimes they do sell direct, at good discounts. when i bought my
kayano (which has since been stolen), i used that ruse. got a
very good discounts. not sure if they do still do it
now....

asics, no question about it.

another question.

your first time running a marathon?

have you ever run a half marathon before?

if you have ran before, i think you have more experience in
buying shoes.

first of all, understand your run pattern; i.e. do you pronate
or supinate? high arch or flat foot? the shoes tech
expert will be able to tell you. also, if you are a heavier
runner, you need shoes with more cushioning. getting the
lightest shoes may actually do you more harm if you weigh on the
heavier side.

the brands are secondary, though i agree with most that asics
probably make the best range of running shoes. i loved my last
asics but i am actually comfortable alternating between my 2 adidas
presently.

also, it is important to note that you should buy a shoe that is
at least half a size larger than your usual size as the feet will
expand due to the heat generated, especially over a course of 42km
in humid singapore. good luck!
